A little bit about what you'll find reviewed here

A little bit about what you'll find reviewed on this blog: I believe the best books involve characters you wish you could read more about long after the book is finished. Recently, I've been searching for hidden gems from the past. I read mostly fiction, and I'm a bit of a prude. I don't normally enjoy books with sex or excessive language.

Who I am:
I raised two wonderful girls, and I'm super proud of them. I enjoy reading (of course), sewing, cross stitching, photography and writing. I live in the high desert portion of Washington (which I didn't know existed until my husband and I decided to move here) and have really enjoyed my time out here. I am excited to see what God has next in store for my life!

A Bride in Store (Unexpected Brides #2) - Melissa Jagears

This book is the second in the Unexpected Brides series.  I've read the novella, Love by the Letter and also the first book, A Bride for Keeps.  This one is about Will, Dex and Rachel's son.  You can read their story in the novella, Love by the Letter.  As of now, it's still free.

Eliza is on her way to meet her groom.  He owns a store and that's the only thing she's really ever wanted.  When she gets to town, she meets his partner, Will, and discovers that her intended has had an accident and won't be back in town for a while.  When he gets back and his true nature is exposed, Eliza is faced with possibly accomplishing her dream on her own.  When that happens, will she choose that dream over the chance for love?

Will is attracted to Eliza, but she's meant for his partner, Axel.  He is always thinking of others and offers his "doctoring" services for little to no money.  Eliza can't understand how he can do that and isn't shocked he's in financial trouble.  Will would like to go to school to be a doctor, but circumstances seem to work against him.  When his store is in trouble, will he lose any chance to make his dreams come true?

I liked reading the interactions between these two.  They seem to have such different personalities, it doesn't seem like they're ever going to find a way to be together.  Eliza is strong-willed and ambitious while Will seems to be more easy going.

While there are links to the other books in the series, you'd be okay reading them out of order.  As stated above, the novella is about Will's parents.  The main characters from A Bride for Keeps, Everett and Julia, make a short appearance as neighbors to Dex and Rachel.  The third book in the series is going to be called A Bride at Last, but I'm not sure when it's due out.  I'll be on the lookout for it, though!  Good Book!

* I received a copy of this book from Bethany House through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
