A little bit about what you'll find reviewed here

A little bit about what you'll find reviewed on this blog: I believe the best books involve characters you wish you could read more about long after the book is finished. Recently, I've been searching for hidden gems from the past. I read mostly fiction, and I'm a bit of a prude. I don't normally enjoy books with sex or excessive language.

Who I am:
I raised two wonderful girls, and I'm super proud of them. I enjoy reading (of course), sewing, cross stitching, photography and writing. I live in the high desert portion of Washington (which I didn't know existed until my husband and I decided to move here) and have really enjoyed my time out here. I am excited to see what God has next in store for my life!

The Accidental Bride (Big Sky Romance #2) - Denise Hunter

After enjoying A Cowboy's Touch, I was happy to pay a few dollars to pick up this next book in the series.

Shay is a character that we get glimpses of in A Cowboy's Touch.  Her story is the main focus in this book.  Fourteen years ago, she was left at the altar by the love of her life, Travis.  Since then she has made one mistake after another.  She fears the whispering gossip of the community and hides as best she can.  When the man who broke her heart shows back up, Shay is determined to place that wall around her heart and not let him inside at all costs.  Unfortunately, she breaks her foot and ends up accepting Travis's help and finds out that a simple re-enactment has turned into a lot more.

Travis has regretted leaving Shay that day, but he was chasing his dreams and was young.  He knows that he has a hard road ahead, but he tackles it with a patience that impresses Shay at times, and she ends up trying that patience at others.  He wants her back in his life, this time for good.

I really did like this book.  In relation to the first book, Abigail is Shay's best friend and her story is told here and there, but I don't think that you would lose a lot by reading them out of order.  I found myself drawing parallels between Shay and myself.  The way she cares what other people think and hides from things sounds very familiar.  I liked her journey and even though I wasn't fond of Travis at first, he showed Shay that he had changed and he grew on me after that.

I have already placed the third book in this series, The Trouble with Cowboys, on my watch list and look forward to reading the story of Dylan, Wade and Travis's friend.  The Accidental Bride was a nice, light read and I recommend it for the romantics out there! Good Book!
