After reading the first book in this series, Rocky Mountain Oasis, I was able to pick up the second book in the series and am glad that I was able to continue with the story of Sky's cousin, Jason. For more about this four-book series, see my review of book 1.
Nicki is a widow that has a son to take care of. Although she didn't really love her husband, Nicki wants to make the ranch successful. The problem is that she doesn't know anything about ranching. Placing an advertisement, Nicki is on the hunt for someone with knowledge to help her out.
Jason has been gone for a while and comes back with plans to take care of his sister. When he arrives, he finds that not only does she no longer really need him, she's gotten married. Jason now has lost his sense of purpose and decides that he will take care of his grandmother instead. She doesn't want any of that and somehow persuades Jason to answer the ad.
Nicki and Jason's first encounter comes when she is getting shot at. Nicki is standing in the middle of the yard showing the person shooting that she won't be intimidated. Things are happening, not only at Nicki's ranch, but also at the surrounding ranches. Nicki's neighbor, William has offered to take care of her and the land, but the feelings that Jason stirs in her make her confused. What does she really know about this stranger anyway?
This was a great book. The action flowed well and I didn't have any issues finishing it. I'm hoping to see the other two drop in price one day so that I can find out what happened to the rest of the family. I recommend the first two with no reservations. I just hope that the rest of them follow suit. Good Book!
A little bit about what you'll find reviewed here
A little bit about what you'll find reviewed on this blog: I believe the best books involve characters you wish you could read more about long after the book is finished. Recently, I've been searching for hidden gems from the past. I read mostly fiction, and I'm a bit of a prude. I don't normally enjoy books with sex or excessive language.

Who I am:
I raised two wonderful girls, and I'm super proud of them. I enjoy reading (of course), sewing, cross stitching, photography and writing. I live in the high desert portion of Washington (which I didn't know existed until my husband and I decided to move here) and have really enjoyed my time out here. I am excited to see what God has next in store for my life!
