A little bit about what you'll find reviewed here

A little bit about what you'll find reviewed on this blog: I believe the best books involve characters you wish you could read more about long after the book is finished. Recently, I've been searching for hidden gems from the past. I read mostly fiction, and I'm a bit of a prude. I don't normally enjoy books with sex or excessive language.

Who I am:
I raised two wonderful girls, and I'm super proud of them. I enjoy reading (of course), sewing, cross stitching, photography and writing. I live in the high desert portion of Washington (which I didn't know existed until my husband and I decided to move here) and have really enjoyed my time out here. I am excited to see what God has next in store for my life!

Glittering Promises (Grand Tour Series #3) - Lisa T. Bergren

I enjoy Bergren's books.  I've had the pleasure of reading her Homeward Trilogy and also the River of Time series.  They are a little on the long side, but worth the time.  For this series, make sure you have read the first two books before diving into this one.  The first one was Glamorous Illusions and the second was Grave Consequences.

In this, the conclusion of the Grand Tour Series, we finally get to find out what happens between Cora and Will.  These two have had to go through so much.  Between the attempts to kidnap Cora, the difference in their station and dealing with the others on the tour, I was beginning to think these two would call it quits.  Misunderstandings and jealousy abound in this one, but you're rewarded with a happy ending.

All in all, I liked the series, but I admit to skimming parts of this book.  Some of the descriptions were getting a little bit tedious for me and I looked for the dialogue and action parts.  These poor people tend to deal with more kidnapping attempts than should happen, but the reasons for it change.  Both Cora and Will tend to draw conclusions without having all the facts and that makes them irritating at times, but also makes them more believable as characters.

As I said before, it is so important to read these in order.  I also recommend that you have as small of a gap between the books as possible.  I made the mistake of having a LARGE gap between reading book 1 and 2 and it really hurt me when I was able to pick up book 2.

While I liked the series, I don't think it was my favorite from the author.  I have to say that the River of Time series is still my favorite with the Homeward Trilogy coming in second. Bergren's descriptions are so involved that you feel like you're immersed in the setting and you won't be disappointed.  She is, however, an author that writes the continuous series.  She's one of the few authors that I'll read that do that.  I think next time, I'll gather the whole series before reading them so I'm not lost!  Good Book!  Good Series!
