Over the weekend, my poor little Kindie died. I have no clue what is wrong with it, it just pops up the "kindle fire" screen and that's it. I've tried the complete power down thing numerous time with no success. I'll call customer service today, but I hold out little hope they can resurrect my Kindie. I'm back to my old one. Fortunately, I had a list of the books I hadn't read yet, so they are now on my old one waiting to be read.
On to the review! While looking up other books by this author, I noticed one that looked familiar. I apparently read it before I started my blog, but it is no longer in my Kindle library, so I'm assuming it wasn't one of my favorite books. I'm glad I didn't know that before I got this one, I may have passed by it.
Meg's father has just died. He has pushed her away from him for her entire life and now she finds that she can't muster up any feelings of sadness at his passing. Deciding to go to the funeral, she discovers that he was a thief and made sure that she was well away from him and his dealings.
Ian was like a son to Meg's father and has taken up his lifestyle. Being orphaned, her father took him in and gave him purpose. Seeing Meg now causes mixed feelings with Ian. Her father didn't want her to have anything to do with his line of work and he definitely didn't think that Ian was worthy of Meg. Ian loves her and wants to protect her, but Meg is determined to prove that she is her father's daughter by helping with a robbery.
I was a little confused at first. I was almost halfway through the book and I hadn't seen much faith or God in the book. I kept going and was impressed at the end. The story line was unique and I was anxious to find out whether or not they would go through with it and what would happen afterwards. It was such a great book, I'm glad that I picked it up.
In March, another book in The Gilded Legacy series came out called All in Good Time. Reading through the synopsis, I didn't recognize any of the characters. I'm putting it on my watch list and hope that it will drop. I believe that the other series was during WWI and that's not really my time period. Good Book! R.I.P. Kindle Fire!!
A little bit about what you'll find reviewed here
A little bit about what you'll find reviewed on this blog: I believe the best books involve characters you wish you could read more about long after the book is finished. Recently, I've been searching for hidden gems from the past. I read mostly fiction, and I'm a bit of a prude. I don't normally enjoy books with sex or excessive language.

Who I am:
I raised two wonderful girls, and I'm super proud of them. I enjoy reading (of course), sewing, cross stitching, photography and writing. I live in the high desert portion of Washington (which I didn't know existed until my husband and I decided to move here) and have really enjoyed my time out here. I am excited to see what God has next in store for my life!

Thanks very much for such a lovely review of Bees In The Butterfly Garden! I'm glad you liked it. :-)
ReplyDeleteAll In Good Time is also set during the Gilded Age and does have a money-theme to make it part of this two-book series, but it has a whole new cast of characters, including my favorite hero, Henry Hawkins. A young Scrooge-like man who unwillingly finds himself falling in love. Lots of fun!
If you're interested in a good price for the e-version of All In Good Time, my publisher is offering a special deal next week, from 5/12 through 5/18, for just 2.99.
About your Kindle . . . did you try a new battery? I had to replace mine (ordered from Amazon for the right model) and it works like it's brand new! I hope you can resurrect it! Around my house, we need more than one. :-)
I really appreciate the heads up on the price of All in Good Time - I look forward to reading it!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, my Kindle had some weird error issues that made it so that it would only show the load screen. I still have my older one, so I'm not completely without a Kindle!
Thanks for stopping by! :)
Appreciated your review of Maureen Lang's new book - one of my favorite writers. Thanks!
